Longest-lasting nicotine pouches & snus: how long a pouch lasts
Updated
Warning: Nicotine is a highly addictive substance. This guide compares how long products keep their flavour – it is not advice to use nicotine products.
How long does a pouch last?
Most people keep a nicotine pouch or a portion of snus in for 20 to 60 minutes. What usually ends a pouch is not the nicotine but the flavour: once it has faded, most people take the pouch out. How quickly that happens differs a lot between products – some lose their flavour after 15 minutes, others keep it for most of an hour.
What makes a pouch last longer
- Moisture. Dry pouches start slower but release flavour more evenly; moist pouches give a strong start and fade faster. For tobacco snus, white portion lasts longer than original portion – the difference explained.
- Amount of filling. Larger and fuller pouches usually last longer than mini pouches.
- Flavour. Strong mint often fades more slowly than delicate fruit flavours.
- Freshness. Dried-out snus loses flavour quickly – how to store it.
How we rate longevity
In our test, Longevity is scored from 1 to 10 and makes up 20% of the overall test score. The lists below are sorted by that score; products with the same longevity keep their order by test score.

Questions
How long does a nicotine pouch last?
Most people keep a pouch in for 20 to 60 minutes. The flavour usually fades before that; how fast differs a lot between products, which is why we rate it as its own criterion.
How long should you keep snus in?
There is no fixed time – many users keep a portion in for 30 to 60 minutes. Manufacturers generally advise against keeping a pouch in for many hours or sleeping with one.
How do you measure longevity?
In our test we score from 1 to 10 how long the flavour lasts. Longevity makes up 20% of our overall test score. Kick is recorded separately and never part of the score.
Why does the flavour fade faster in some pouches?
Moisture, pouch material, how the flavour is added and the amount of filling all play a role. Dry pouches often start slowly but last longer; moist ones release flavour quickly.
